Cinder Soil (50/50 Pepeekeo Top Soil and Cinder Blend)

Cinder Soil is Pepeekeo Top Soil pre-blended with black and red cinder at a 50/50 ratio, combining the growing quality of Hamakua coast soil with the drainage benefits of volcanic cinder in one ready-to-use mix. The cinder opens up the soil so that air and water move through it more freely, which helps roots establish quickly and keeps beds from staying waterlogged in wet weather.

That balance is the whole appeal. Rich top soil on its own can hold too much water on the wet side of the island, while cinder on its own does not feed plants; blended together at 50/50 they offset each other to create a structured, free-draining medium that still carries natural fertility. The result is a planting mix you can use straight from the load without any further blending on your part.

It suits gardens, raised beds, and general landscaping, and it is especially valuable in beds that have struggled with drainage or compaction. Fill a new raised bed with it, top off an existing one, or use it wherever plants need both nutrition and air at the roots.
