Dragon Fruit Soil Mix

A cactus at heart, so treat it like one.

Why Dragon Fruit Needs its own Blend

Dragon fruit is a climbing cactus that wants sharp drainage, lean fertility, and a near-neutral pH. This blend runs heavy on cinder and pumice for fast drainage, keeps feeding light, and holds pH slightly higher than the tree mixes.

Planting Tips: Dragon Fruit and Other Lean, Cactus-Type Crops

  1. Give it a Post to Climb: Dragon fruit is a climbing cactus. Set a sturdy trellis or post at planting.
  2. Plant on the Dry Side.Choose the best-drained spot you have. Dragon fruit rots in wet ground.
  3. Water Sparingly: Let the soil dry well between waterings. Overwatering is the most common way to lose it.
  4. Full Sun, Some Afternoon Shade: It wants strong light but can scald in relentless sun. Some afternoon shade helps.
  5. Mulch Lightly: A light mulch is enough. Heavy, moisture-holding mulch works against a cactus.
