  • Water pooling, mud, or run-off: use Drain Rock, which stays clean and lets water through.

  • Mixing concrete, bedding pipe, or setting a catchment liner: use Sand and Concrete.

How much material do I need

The amount you need depends on the area you are covering and the depth you are building, and lighter materials like cinder cover more ground per ton than dense rock. If you are not sure, send us the length, width, and depth of your project and we will help you estimate the tonnage before you order, so you are not left short or paying for more than the job needs.

Frequently asked questions

What areas do you deliver to?

We deliver aggregate, rock, sand, soil, and cinder across the Big Island.

How is material sold and priced?

Everything is sold by the ton, and the price per ton is shown on each product page. Delivered pricing depends on quantity and location, so request a quote and we will work it out for your site.

What is the difference between base course and drain rock?

Base course contains rock dust and fines, so it compacts into a firm base for pads, driveways, and paving. Drain rock is clean with no fines, so water drains straight through it, which is what you want for run-off, leach fields, and muddy ground.

How much material will I need?

It depends on the area and the depth you are covering. Send us your project dimensions and we will help you estimate the tonnage.

Why is so much Big Island rock dark gray?

Our crushed rock is volcanic basalt, the local stone, which gives it a natural dark gray color. The cinders are different, with red and black coming straight from lava, and they are popular for landscaping and drainage.

Do you carry soil and cinder as well as rock?

Yes. Alongside fill, base course, drain rock, and gravel, we carry Pepeekeo top soil, a 50/50 cinder soil blend, and both red and black volcanic cinder.
