Heavy feeder

Banana Soil Mix

A heavy feeder that drinks as hard as it eats.

Why Banana Needs its own Blend

Banana puts on enormous growth in a season and wants rich, moisture-holding ground with plenty of potassium. This blend runs compost-forward with extra biochar to hold water, and adds potassium and magnesium to support the fruit load.

Planting Tips: Heavy Feeders (Banana, Ginger, Turmeric)

  1. Give Them Room and Richness: These crops want a wide, rich planting area. Prepare a generous bed, not just a hole.
  2. Keep Moisture Even: Heavy feeders drink hard. Mulch well and water before the soil dries out.
  3. Feed Through the Season: A mid-season top-up of compost or the nutrient pack keeps growth strong.
  4. Plant Rhizomes Shallow: Set ginger and turmeric rhizomes just below the surface, eyes up, in loose soil.
  5. Mound Bananas: Plant bananas slightly high and mulch heavily to hold moisture and warmth.
